It's Dr. Seuss Week and we have lots of fun planned! Our students will be reading books by the beloved children's author, making fun crafts, and enjoying fun-themed snacks....be sure to check with your child's teacher about any special activities happening in your classroom!

We are most excited about celebrating Dr. Seuss' 112th birthday on Wednesday, March 2ND since we will be in full Dr. Seuss mode! We're asking all of our students and staff to come to school on Wednesday dressed as your favorite Dr. Seuss character. Check out the photos below for some ideas. Be creative...you don't have to spend a lot of money to put together a fun outfit!

After a week of terrible weather, last Friday's Dr. Seuss Family Fun Night was a huge success! We had about 100 people in attendance, representing more than 30 of our Future Scholars families. 

Thank you to all of our staff for the hours they spent preparing for the event and running activities, everyone who brought their family to enjoy the festivities, and a special thank you to Room 9 parent Danielle Lepore for all of her extra help preparing food and setting up.

Next week we will be celebrating all things Dr. Seuss! We're currently working hard to fill our hallways with Seuss-tastic decorations and crafts, and next week will be full of fun Dr. Seuss activities for our students! 

The week will end with our second Family Fun Night of the school year: Dr. Seuss Family Fun Night on Friday March 6TH. This is a family event for parents to enjoy with their children, and this time we are opening the event up to the wider community so please invite your friends and extended family with children. There will be games, face painting, food, and lots of fun! 

We also invite our staff and students to dress as a Dr. Seuss character on Friday March 6TH, either for just for Family Fun Night or for the whole school day! Don't wait until the last minute to plan your costume! Below are some examples of easy Dr. Seuss costumes you can make or assemble for your child. Think outside of the box! These are just some examples...any Dr. Seuss book or character is welcome! And, if all else fails, come to school with a wacky hair-do and brightly colored or patterned clothing. 

Following the success of our carnival-themed Family Fun Night this fall, we are happy to announce that we will be having our second Family Fun Night to coincide with our Dr. Seuss Week celebrations this March. The event will run from 6:00PM-8:00PM and all students, staff, and families are invited to join in on the fun, games, and food!

Based on input we received at past PAB Meetings, we will also use Dr. Seuss Family Fun Night as a way for parents to give and receive parenting tips and advice. In the weeks leading up to March 6TH, there will be a "Question Suggestion Box" at the front desk where parents can write down a question or discussion topic that they would like to have answered by fellow parents. On Dr. Seuss Family Fun night, those questions will be displayed on poster boards around the school for parents to write in their suggestions and ideas.

• Wondering what kind of easy, healthy lunch options other children are eating?

These are just examples of the kind of discussion based questions we hope that parents will ask and respond to on March 6TH. 

Tonight, Tuesday, February 10TH is our next Parent Advisory Board Meeting and the main topic of discussion will be Dr. Seuss Family Fun Night! Please come out to learn more about the event and to give your input so that we can make this event even better than our last one!
