Our Thanksgiving Feast will be on Monday, November 23RD this year. Our classrooms will enjoy Thanksgiving fun and activities in their classroom before enjoying their feasts at lunchtime. A Thanksgiving-themed school lunch of turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, and corn will be provided to those buying school lunch. You may purchase school lunch for your child at the front desk. Be sure to check your child's classroom sign-up sheet for extra treats to accompany the school lunch Thanksgiving meal.
Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and today's cooking class was a gobbling-good time...we made sweet, delicious turkeys out of graham crackers, pretzels, vanilla wafers, and candies.
Ms. Melissa's Pre-K class also made Native American teepees out of ice cream cones, chocolate, and pretzels. All of our classrooms have been busy learning about Thanksgiving for Pilgrims & Indians week here at Future Scholars and everyone is excited for our Thanksgiving Feast, which will be on Monday Nov. 24TH. Remember, you can sign up to bring something to your child's class party and you can also purchase them a Thanksgiving-themed school lunch that day. Just see us at the front desk for more information or to pay. Anyone already purchasing lunch that day will have a delicious Thanksgiving feast instead of the regular Monday menu. It was an EXTREMELY close race, but the results are in and the winner of our 2ND Annual Pumpkin Carving Contest is.... "Olaf" by our Kindergartners! Only two votes behind, in second place was "Picture Perfect" by the Infant Room and only one vote behind them was "We Come In Peace" by the Juniors. Congratulations to our winner and ALL OF CLASSROOMS for making such beautiful and creative pumpkins! And thank you to everyone who voted and made this such an exciting and close competition! Be sure to check out our Pumpkin Carving Contest photo page to see pictures of some of our classrooms while they carved their pumpkins!
This Wednesday, all of our classrooms carved and decorated pumpkins for our 2nd Annual Pumpkin Carving Contest and they each look amazing! Now it's time to vote for which pumpkin YOU think is the best! Vote online right now, and/or stop by our poll station (located near the computer lab) to vote and see the pumpkins in person during our Halloween celebration on Friday 10/31. The winning pumpkin will be announced on Monday! The voting function may not be compatible with all mobile phones or tablets. If you aren't able to use the poll, please leave your vote as a blog comment and it will be counted! Voting ends at 10:00AM on Monday Nov. 3RD. The winner will be announced later that day! We welcome parents, families, friends, and students to vote! The past two weeks' themes at Future Scholars have been "Apples of Plenty" and "Fall Harvest" so it was only fitting that our classrooms would celebrate with lots of apple-related crafts and activities!
After last week's Apple Picking trip to Johnson's Farm you might think that our students would be all "appled out", but they had a blast cooking apple sauce, making apple prints, and more! |
