The toddlers in Room 9 had a blast playing and learning this Tuesday while celebrating Memorial Day. They learned about mixing colors and improved their fine motor skills while mixing food dyes with shaving cream to make fun holiday creations. They also made festive hats to get in the patriotic spirit!

This week we enjoyed our first ever International Art Show! Our students and staff had fun in April learning about cultures from around the world and on Wednesday, April 29TH our students took turns traveling around the school to experience a different country in each classroom. Parents were also invited to stop by later that night. Check out more photos of the International Art Show and see more of the wonderful crafts our students made!
Yesterday was the 45th Earth Day! Our students learned the importance of respecting our planet and talked about ways that they can help to care for the Earth.
Ms. Donna's kindergarteners took a trip out to the garden to spend time with nature. They learned about plants and even planted flower seeds! Ms. Charlene's preschoolers learned all about the 3 R's: Reduce, Reuse, & Recycle. They learned which items are recyclable and played a sorting game with items for the trash or recycling bin. Check out photos of all the Earth Day fun we had, and watch the video below--an Earth Day favorite! Today is National Jelly Bean Day! To celebrate, we have a jar of jelly beans at the front desk and we're asking students, parents, siblings, and staff to guess how many there are! Voting will continue for the rest of the week and the closest guess (over or under) will be announced on Friday (and get to take the jar of jelly beans home!)
Today we celebrate Earth Day, the celebration of the birth of the modern environmental movement in 1970. Year after year, Earth Day has helped to "broaden the base of support for environmental programs, rekindle public commitment and build community activism around the world through a broad range of events and activities." It's important to instill an appreciation and respect for the environment in our children, and Earth Day is the perfect opportunity to do so. Our teachers have a lot of fun activities planned for today, but it is important that parents encourage their kids to respect the Earth as well. Here are some fun ways that you can celebrate Earth Day with your children:
