November is National Diabetes Month and this week's theme was Health & Nutrition here at Future Scholars, so we were happy to welcome Ms. Anna (parent of our Kindergarten student, Emma), who came to talk to our Pre-K and Kindergarten classes about diabetes and healthy eating.
Ms. Anna works for Novo Nordisk, a "global healthcare company with more than 90 years of innovation and leadership in diabetes care". With help from Future Scholars student, Jack, who is living with diabetes, Ms. Anna taught our students about what diabetes is and the best way to prevent it--healthy eating!
Students were excited when Ms. Anna presented a special surprise for Jack--a toy car signed by race car driver Charlie Kimball, who is sponsored by Novo Nordisk and also has diabetes.
